Judge Not Lest You Be Judged

A few days ago, as I was going to the City on the train a woman in her fifties got on and started approaching passengers asking for money. I saw her coming towards me, but I was sure she wouldn't dare to bother me as I was listening to my MP3 player with headphones on. Surprise, surprise! She stood in front of me showing me to take the headphones off, and then asked if I could spare some change. I reached into my purse and gave her more than she had asked for. She thanked and proceeded further to other people and I went back to listening to my music.

Several minutes later, and I started reacting; I realized that probably for the first time I did something for a stranger without any judging, any thoughts whatsoever. She asked for something and I gave it to her because I had it. That's all. And so simple. I didn't even think that probably I had done a good deed, as a matter of fact I felt she did me a very big favour, because it turned out to be a great experience for me; the fact that I did not judge nor pity nor... nothing. So liberating not to fall into the trap of a habitual behaviour!

On the other hand it happened to me few times when other people helped when I needed it (at Bangkok Airport for example) and I just hoped that they were not judging me too much or too harshly.

Sometimes thoughts are so strong that you can actually hear them without them being verbalized.

So... be nice to others when you think of them... you never know when your turn will come!
